When you consider that SEO specialists regularly promote their ability to GUARANTEE a Page-One ranking but fail to promote the small print associated with the guarantee – “subject to keyword assessment and availability” – is it any wonder everyone is confused.
So allow me provide a little clarity to one such guarantee that I saw recently, and I believe a guarantee that underpins all SEO Page-One ranking guarantees is “Subject to Keyword Assessment”.
Any fool can achieve a Page-One ranking for low value keywords that are not searched frequently. The SEO challenge is to achieve Page-One rankings for high values; frequently searched keywords that best describes the product or service your website promotes or sells. Anything less is only marginally more effective than not having a website at all and still expecting people who search the internet to find you.
With thousands of websites competing for one of ten spots on Page-One, any results in this space are at best temporary. The competition for SEO ranked positions is like watching a pack of seagulls fighting over a chip, lose concentration for a minute and you lose your chip!
One fact that makes it easier for the few website owners who achieve these elusive Page-One rankings is the business owners who have wasted money publishing websites that are never going to be found on the internet.
Many of these companies turned to SEM or Google AdWords in an effort to secure Page-One rankings on Google and over time grow to regard this pay-per-click program as essential to generating leads from their website. Unfortunately, the cost of SEM is becoming progressively more and more unaffordable while progressively delivering fewer leads for the same dollars invested.
I know because I was one of these companies and I surrendered substantial portions of my profitability to Google until I woke up to what was happening.
